L’histoire de 27m² commence en avril 2006 et aujourd’hui elle n’est pas encore terminée. Elle débute par une nécessité : le duo de réalisateur, G. Cserhati et F.Lartigue, impatients, en attendant des financements pour leur 3e court-métrage chez Wacky Films, décident de faire un film expérimental où le jeu d’acteur prendra le rôle principal. Les comédiens ne seront plus des piliers, ils seront le centre d’intérêt du film. S’en suit un casting méticuleux, qui permet de réunir sept comédiens professionnels, prêts à prendre des risques et se lancer dans un travail de laboratoire. Ils travailleront gratuitement pendant 2 mois. L’expérimentation de 6 semaines commence, suivant des lignes précises de caractères écrits.

Deux semaines de tournage seront à la disposition de l’équipe pour capturer l’émotion et l’histoire des personnages développés durant l’atelier. L’équipe est constituée de plus ou moins jeunes professionnels, une chose les lie: l’envie de faire un film autrement, même gratuitement. Le projet attire par lui-même les personnes intéressées, l’équipe est au complet en quelques jours.

 

Donc durant quinze jours, le tournage se déroule intense et rigoureux. La post-production commence juste derrière. 9 semaines de montage constitueront la première période qui est couronnée de quelques projections “test” et d’une sélection dans la session “Work in Progress” d’un festival Indépendant en Italie en 2007. (Alba International Film Festival).

Parallèlement on travaille sur la musique du film avec notre compositeur: Dave Maric.

 

Le film a été fait en France avec une équipe majoritairement française. Aujourd’hui 27m² s’est confronté à l’administration cinématographique qui ne dispose d’aucune ouverture d’intégration pour les films faits uniquement de bénévolats. La recherche continue, on finira bien par trouver une solution légale à vous montrer ce film en salle.

Pourquoi comme ça

Aujourd’hui nous sommes au courant que de faire un film de cette manière-là, était se mettre des bâtons dans les roues d’un point de vue de distribution. Mais pour nous, ce projet ne pouvait pas se faire autrement. Ce film est une expérimentation cinématographique à part entière où la priorité était la répétition et la recherche dans le jeu d’acteur. Il nous semblaient impossible de recevoir des financements pour ce projet, les réalisateurs n’étant pas intégrés dans le milieu, et le but étant aussi de donner la chance à des acteurs inconnus.

Nous étions aussi très impatients de commencer à travailler sur le terrain. Les refus de subvention auxquels on était habitué, plus la période d’attente qui les précède – on savait – étaient capables de tuer l’idée dans l’œuf. Il y a des projets qui ont besoin de fraicheur et d’immédiateté. De plus pour nous il était primordial de donner la chance à des jeunes professionnels de faire un film. C’est pour cela qu’on a décidé de lancer ce projet autrement.

Ce site a été mis en place dans deux buts : l’un était de créer et garder contact avec notre public potentiel, l’autre était de pouvoir recueillir des fonds, même symbolique pour la réalisation du projet. The story of 27m ² begins in April, 2006 and today it is not ended yet. It begins with a necessity: two directors, G. Cserhati and F.Lartigue, impatient , were waiting for financing for their 3rd short film at Wacky Films, so they decide tomake an experimental film where actor’s play will take the leading part. The comedians will be no more props, they will be the center of interest of the movie. An accurate casting follows, which allows to gather seven professional actors, ready to take risks and to dash into a work of laboratory. They will work for free during 2 months. The experiment of 6 weeks begins, following precise lines of written characters.

Two weeks of shooting will be necessary for the crew to capture the emotion and the story of the characters developed during the workshop. The crew is constituted by more or less young professionals, a thing connects them: the desire to make a film otherwise, even not paid. The project attracts by itself the interested persons, the crew is complet in some days.

So the shooting takes place, intense and rigorous. The post-production begins just behind. 9 weeks of editing will constitute the first period which is crowned with some “test” screening and with a selection in the session ” Work in Progress ” of an Independent festival in Italy in 2007. Paralelly we work on the music of the film with our composer Dave Maric.

The film was made in France with a mainly french team. Today 27m ² confronted with the film administration which arranges no opening of integration for films made only by voluntary works. The research continues, we shall eventually find a legal solution to show you this film in a movie theater.

Today we know that to make a film at this way, was to “put a spoke in the wheel” from a point of view of distribution. But for us, this project could not be otherwise made. This film is a separate experiment where the priority was the rehearsal and the research in actor’s play. It seemed to us impossible to receive financing for this project, the directors not being integrated into the “”offical” movie maker milieu”, and the purpose was also to give a chance to unknown actors.

We were also very impatient to begin to work on something big. The refusals of subvention to which we were used, and the period of wait which precedes them – we knew – were capable of killing the idea “before born.” There are projects which need to frech attitude and immediacy. Furthermore for us it was essential to give a chance to young professionals to make a film. That’s why we decided to start this project in a different way, even without money.

This site was set up in two purposes: the one was to create and to keep contact with our potential audiance, the other one was to be able to collect some donation, even symbolic for the realization of the project.
